THE CROP TOP
15th June 2015
The 90s – a decade of denim, flannel shirts and floral prints – is well and truly making a return for 2015 and with it comes the re-launch of the crop top. This time around women across the globe can breathe a sigh of relief (and breathe out!) as modern styling makes the trend accessible to flatter all figures, from Tess Daly’s slender midriff to Tess Munster’s voluptuous curves. No longer do us girls need the washboard stomachs of Whigfield and Britney Spears. Now clever styling means that even wobbly bellies can flaunt a crop and flash the flesh with pride.
Style with high waisted trousers and a double breasted blazer for city chic, or tone down for the weekend with a cropped tee and ripped skinnies. For those nervous about revealing belly buttons, a sheer panel along the bottom or underneath a crop top can still give the illusion of rocking the trend without the added flesh flash.
The crop is not exclusive to warm weather either. For chilly days, opt for a turtleneck with long sleeves. Choose ruffles, pockets and patterns to enhance a smaller bust or bright colours to lengthen a short torso.
Whatever look you choose, the crop top is here to stay for the foreseeable future.
